Forgive me, I must start by pointing out that three years after our horrific financial crisis caused by financial fraud, not a single financial executive has gone to jail and that is wrong.

Politically conscious and outspoken supporter of public art and graffiti, Los Angeles-based Saber, took the skies of Los Angeles today for a skywriting protest of LA City Council’s moratorium on street murals. If they are going to okay some advertising billboards, might as well take your public art to the next level.

As we read on LA Weekly, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and the 15 people who control the Los Angeles City Council spend more than $10 million on graffiti abatement programs. But “none on mural programs that divert young artist to legal walls to display their art.”

Lots of artists we know in Los Angeles have been complaining for years about the conditions in Los Angeles and public art, and the matter has become a lot worse in 2011. Good for Saber to keep the dialogue going on the side of the artist.
